Client funds will be held in US Treasuries at BBVA and accepted by Binance as trading margin.
Binance partnered with Spain’s BBVA to offer off-exchange asset custody, allowing client funds to be held in US Treasuries while still usable as trading margin.
The move is expected to boost investor confidence, and is happening at a time of growing demand for independent custody after the FTX collapse.
BBVA’s involvement also forms part of the growing role of traditional banks in crypto as regulatory clarity improves in both the US and EU.
