The SEC has postponed its decision on approving two Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) proposed by Hashdex and ARK 21Shares.

  • The SEC delayed its decision on two Ether ETF proposals from Hashdex and ARK 21Shares, setting a new final decision date for late May.

  • This delay has dampened the previously high hopes for the approval of eight Ether ETFs by major firms like BlackRock, Grayscale, and Fidelity, casting uncertainty over their prospects.

  • Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart expressed a huge drop in confidence for the ETFs' approval, pointing towards the lack of communication between the SEC and ETF issuers as a key issue.

BlackRock has taken some major steps into the digital asset domain by submitting a Form D to the SEC for its BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund.

  • This will be BlackRock's foray into tokenized asset funds, and through the form D filing, BlackRock wants exemptions under Section 3(c) of the Investment Company Act for greater operational flexibility and fewer regulatory restrictions.

  • The fund plans to draw big investments by setting a minimum investment threshold of $100,000.

  • Securitize, a digital securities firm in the U.S., will oversee the offering and sale of the fund's tokens.

Hackers recently targeted Trezor, a hardware wallet provider, and managed to steal about $8,100.

  • ZachXBT, a well-known on-chain detective, first revealed the breach involving Trezor’s social media account, where messages about a non-existent “$TRZR” token presale on the Solana Network were spread to Trezor's followers.

  • The scam directed users to a Solana wallet address, leading them to websites equipped with wallet drainers.

  • Despite Trezor's quick response to delete the misleading posts and address the breach, the hacker was still able to steal about $8,100 from Trezor’s Zapper account.

Attorneys for Sam Bankman-Fried argue that the suggestion of a 50-year prison sentence reflects a “medieval” view on punishment.

  • SBF’s lawyers claim that no real losses occurred, and due to the bankruptcy proceedings, all customers and lenders would be fully compensated.

  • They also did not agree with the depiction of Bankman-Fried as greedy, and pointed out his philanthropy and modest lifestyle.

  • The defense suggested a much more reduced sentence of about five to six and a half years, as they believe Bankman-Fried already suffered extensive personal and professional losses.
