The number of long-term Ether holders steadily increased throughout the past year, while the number of Bitcoin holders fell.
The percentage of Ethereum (ETH) holders holding their tokens long-term rose from 59% in January to 75% by the end of 2024.
The Bitcoin (BTC) long-term holder percentage decreased steadily from about 70% to 62% over the same period.
Overall, the increase in ETH long-term holding suggests positive sentiment and growing trust in the asset as it approaches 2025.
The US government is projected to focus on safeguarding its existing Bitcoin stockpile rather than buying more BTC.
Galaxy Digital projects that the US government will not purchase additional Bitcoin in 2025 but will rather focus on safeguarding its current holdings of approximately 183,850 BTC.
The government is also expected to examine an expanded Bitcoin reserve policy, which aligns with discussions like Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis’ Bitcoin Act 2024.
Additionally, analysts believe a stronger Bitcoin stance by the US could encourage global competition to adopt Bitcoin as a reserve asset.
Over the past 29 months, the number of Bitcoin ATMs in Australia increased to a total of 1,359.
With 3.5% of all Bitcoin ATMs globally, Australia ranks as the third-largest Bitcoin ATM network, closely approaching Europe's total of 1,660 machines.
The United States leads globally with 31,516 Bitcoin ATMs, which accounts for 81.3% of the worldwide total.
Canada follows with 3,027 machines, contributing an additional 7.8%. Together, these two countries account for over 90% of all Bitcoin ATMs worldwide.
The ex-wife of Solana co-founder Stephen Akridge accused him of taking millions of dollars worth of her SOL staking rewards.
Elisa Rossi filed the lawsuit in San Francisco Superior Court, and alleged that her ex-husband earned millions in staking rewards from Solana (SOL) tokens she claims were rightfully hers.
According to Rossi, their divorce agreement in March 2024 split ownership of the SOL tokens, but Akridge used his better crypto expertise to keep control and profit from staking rewards.
Rossi also claimed Akridge only granted her wallet authority over the accounts containing the tokens, which allowed him to continue staking them secretly until she uncovered the scheme in May 2024.
